Artist Statement.
Walker Shaw is a multidisciplinary artist based in the west of Ireand, co. Sligo. His main focus revolves around the ignored/unseen world around us, and he attempts to pair his subject matter with the appopriate medium for the optimal viewer-artwork experience.
Ideas around cultural identity, existentialism, technology, and matteriality are words to describe Walker’s practice.
With a background in carpentry and construction, he aims to meld numerous mediums and processes together to create interesting and engaging styles of work, with a heavy influence on viewer particpation and interaction.
The performative aspects of the creation of the work is another process which greatly inspires and influeces his decsion making.
